How to Apply:
South African Applicants Requirements:
National Senior Certificate for Degree Studies (NSC-Deg) or Senior Certificate with endorsement for undergraduate degree programs.
National Senior Certificate for Diploma studies (NSC-Dip) or Senior Certificate for undergraduate diploma programs.
English proficiency: Pass in English (Home Language or First Additional Language) at Level 4 (50% or above). The College of Law requires Level 5 for English Home Language or Level 6 for English as FAL.
Application Process:
Central Applications Office (CAO):
First-time South African applicants for degree/diploma study must apply via the CAO.
Obtain CAO application form and Handbook from the CAO or CAO’s website.
CAO reference/application numbers are required for correspondence.
Online Application for UKZN:
Postgraduate and international applicants; returning former UKZN undergraduates can apply online.
A non-refundable application fee of R210 (late fee R420) is payable to UKZN.

Applications Directly to UKZN:
Returning UKZN students changing programs or applying for non-degree studies.
Applicants to non-CAO programs or for Semester 2 (August) entry.
Obtain forms from General Enquiry Offices on campuses or UKZN’s website.

International Applicants:
Apply directly to UKZN using the specific form for international students.
Enclose proof of payment and necessary documents.

Study Abroad/Exchange Programs:
Apply directly to UKZN using the Application for Study Abroad, Exchange and Short Term Programmes form.
Available from UKZN International Relations or UKZN’s website.
