UNISA Short Course in Anti-Corruption and Commercial Crime Investigation
Programme Duration: One Year Instruction Language: English Intended Audience: Professionals engaged in the investigation of commercial crimes and anti-corruption within both the public and private sectors.
Eligibility Criteria: Applicants should hold a Senior Certificate or an equivalent NQF level 4 qualification. Alternatively, relevant experience sanctioned by the Director of the Centre for Criminological Sciences may be considered.
Enrollment Window: From January 6th to February 28th.

Objective of the Programme: The curriculum is designed to impart the foundational knowledge and investigative techniques required for combating commercial crime and corruption.
Course Modules and Content Outlines:
Module CCCI01K – Legal Frameworks Governing Anti-Corruption and Commercial Crime Investigations Content Focus:
- Understanding of South African legislation related to commercial crimes
- Types of property crimes
- Offenses impacting the Administration of Justice
- Evidentiary law and courtroom procedures
- Principles of civil law including delict, contract law, debt acknowledgement
- Statutory investigative authorities
Module CCCI02L – Execution of Anti-Corruption and Commercial Crime Probes Content Focus:
- Theory behind investigative procedures
- Techniques for interviewing witnesses and individuals accused
- Documenting legal affidavits and testimonies
- Identifying and utilizing information sources
- Basics of crime scene management
- Protocols for search and seizure
Module PCCI02B – Enforcement of Legal Practices in Anti-Corruption and Commercial Crime Investigations Content Focus:
- Investigating and understanding fraud, forgery, and uttering
- Legal ramifications of theft by false pretenses
- Relevant legislation such as:
- Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act
- National Prosecuting Authority Act
- Witness Protection Act
- Protected Disclosures Act
- Electronic Communications and Transactions Act
- Communication Interception Act
- Legal aspects of compensation and restitution
