University of Johannesburg UJ Electrical Engineering
Programme: Electrical and Electronic Engineering Science
The Department is actively engaged in outreach initiatives and development of graduates who possess the ability to solve complex engineering problems. It boasts robust research and innovation development at its hi-tech laboratories. Focus areas include telecommunication, control and instrumentation, electrical energy and information engineering. Electrical Engineers are concerned with using electricity to transmit energy – while Electronic Engineers are concerned with using electricity to transmit information.
Electrical and electronic engineers work with electrical, electronic or electromechanical systems. They improve people’s lives by providing electrical power and distributing information via radio, radar, computer, telephone and television. Electrical Engineers design, manufacture, install and manage systems and installations that generate or use electrical energy. They are involved in fields or control systems.
Electrical and electronic engineers can pursue careers in electronic design, software system design, power system design, and many other fields of this exciting engineering discipline.
