University of Kwazulu Natal Business School, The University of KwaZulu-Natal Leadership discipline was established in 1998. The discipline aligns its activities with leadership for contextual strategic competitiveness at all levels of civil and corporate society. Activities currently includes undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as well as evening seminars, short courses and customized programmes for industry, government and other sectors. The discipline operates from its base in Durban, and has developed learning sites in organisations requiring to work in partnership with the discipline using their own premises.

The Leadership discipline of the University of KwaZulu-Natal works with the private, public and NGO sectors to develop and promote democratic leadership for the development, improvement and advancement of Africa and its institutions. 

As an institution in and of Africa, the mission of the Leadership discipline is to promote systemic change in the private and public institutions and in civil society in Africa. The discipline does this through an engagement with individuals and organisations so as to develop agents and institutions that are committed to positive change and sustainable development in Africa
