Overview of the Industrial Psychology Program at UNIZULU
Department of Psychology: The Department of Psychology at the University of Zululand (UNIZULU) offers comprehensive academic training in Psychology. The program aims to develop students’ critical conceptual skills and an in-depth understanding of human behavior, preparing them to apply this knowledge in various contexts.
Undergraduate Path: Students embark on a foundational path in their first three years, majoring in Psychology. The curriculum equips them with knowledge and skills essential for becoming effective contributors in the field. The undergraduate program includes modules leading to a major in Psychology.
Postgraduate Training and Registration: Postgraduate training at UNIZULU is designed to lead to registration as a psychologist with the Professional Board for Psychology of the Health Professions Council of South Africa. Following a BA degree and an Honours degree, students may pursue further degrees in:
- Clinical Psychology
- Counselling Psychology
- Educational Psychology
- Industrial Psychology
Curriculum Structure: The curriculum consists of at least 24 semester modules, divided as follows:
First Year: Minimum of eight modules.
Second Year: Minimum of eight modules.
Third Year: Minimum of eight modules.
Rules and Regulations: The program adheres to the general rules of the Faculty of Arts, departmental rules, and Health Professions Council of South Africa rules for postgraduate students.
Admission Requirements:
National Senior Certificate (NSC) certified by Umalusi.
Matric full exemption.
English: HG A, B, C, or D symbol or 4, 5, 6, or 7 points.
At least one science subject (Biology, Physics, Physiology, or Mathematics) with an A, B, C, or D symbol or 4, 5, 6, or 7 points.
