About Wells Mountain Initiative
Wells Mountain Initiative (WMI) is a charitable organization based in the United States. It focuses on promoting social change and provides opportunities for youth in South Africa to pursue their educational goals and contribute to their communities. WMI offers scholarships, skill-enhancement workshops, and networking opportunities to empower South African youth and help them make a positive impact on their communities. The organization remains actively involved in supporting scholarship recipients through various social service projects and assistance to ensure successful completion of their studies.
Wells Mountain Initiative Scholarship 2025-2026
Wells Mountain Initiative is currently accepting applications for its scholarship program for the upcoming academic year. The scholarship is open to students from developing countries who are pursuing Bachelor’s or Diploma qualifications in any field of study.
The WMI Scholarship is awarded to 60-80 students annually, with an average value of USD 1500. The scholarship covers study materials, tuition fees, books, and related expenses. The application review process takes place between April and July 2025-2026. Successful candidates will be announced on the official WMI website and Facebook page, and the first scholarship installment will be disbursed in September 2025-2026. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified through a regret email.
Selected scholarship recipients are expected to maintain high academic performance, participate in 100 hours of community service, and demonstrate commitment to serving their communities. The scholarship may be terminated if a student fails to meet the requirements.
Eligibility Criteria for the WMI Scholarship
Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria to be considered for the WMI Scholarship:
- Must be a resident of a developing country (excluding Canada, US, UK, Western Europe, and Australia)
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Diploma qualification in their home country or another developing country
- Excellent academic record and commitment to contributing to their country’s development
- Age not exceeding 35 years
- Intention to work in their home country after graduation
- Financial need
How to Apply for the WMI Scholarship
To apply for the Wells Mountain Initiative Scholarship 2025-2026, complete the online application process. The application consists of 153 questions, and you can save your progress and complete it in multiple sessions.
Required Documents
Submit the following documents to meet the eligibility criteria and requirements:
- National ID documents
- Academic transcripts from the attended school
- Results of the national exam (if applicable)
- Headshot photo
- Fee structure from the institute (preferably on letterhead)
- Two recommendation letters
- Personal statements (500-1000 words)
- Essay (500-1000 words) on a hypothetical scenario related to community service
Closing Date of the Scholarship
The application deadline for the Wells Mountain Initiative Scholarship 2025-2026 is 1 March 2025-2026 at 06:59 South African time. Late applications will not be considered.
