Code 1 – New New automobiles delivered/sold to the first owner by a dealer.
Second-Hand (Code 2)
Vehicles that have had one or more previous owners/registrations.
Code 3 – Indefinitely Unfit For Use
Code 3 automobiles are those that have been involved in an accident and are so seriously damaged that the insurer believes it is not worth repairing. According to the insurance provider, the cost of repairing the damage would be greater than the car’s current value.
Code 3 vehicles are typically offered for far less than Codes 1 and 2. Is it, nevertheless, a wise idea to invest in a Code 3?
Code 4 – Destroyed Forever
A vehicle fits into this category if the motor’s chassis has been: a.) compacted;
- b) Squeezed;
- c) It has melted;
- d) Obliterated; or
- f) Is so badly damaged that it cannot be repaired.
Why should you buy a Code 3 vehicle?
When an insurer writes off a car, it does not necessarily mean that it cannot be repaired or resold by another person or institution.
If the formerly ‘unfit’ car passes a roadworthiness examination/test after the damage has been repaired, it is legally permitted to be driven on our roads again.
