CAPE TOWN – To address the water problem in the Nelson Mandela Bay metro area, the municipality is organizing a workshop on water resilience to develop long-term solutions. The aggregate amount of all dam storage in the metro area is now more than 15.5%.
Presentations from various stakeholders are being made as the area continues to work to avert day zero.

JOHANNESBURG – The Hawks have revealed that they are presently looking into hundreds of instances totaling more than R1.5 trillion, exposing the pandemic of unlawful financial behavior in the nation once more.
Godfrey Lebeya, the leader of the Hawks, had his first news conference since taking office in 2018 on Tuesday in Pretoria.

JOHANNESBURG – Randall Williams, the mayor of Tshwane, is the target of a motion of no confidence that will have the backing of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). Williams’ employment is in jeopardy due to the issue surrounding an R26 billion unsolicited offer to lease property to the Kratos Consortium. The mayor was prepared to provide the report to the council last week. It would have been the first stage in leasing the site in Pretoria West that would be used to build gas turbines for alternative energy. The proposal has jeopardized Williams’ status as mayor of Tshwane.

Northern Cape – Due to the Health Department’s inability to fulfill the requirements for the college’s accreditation by the Council of Higher Education and the nation’s Nursing Council, the sole nursing college in the Northern Cape threatens closure. Several unions made this known during a protest by personnel and students in front of the Kimberley offices of the Health MEC. The Henrietta Stockdale Nursing College suspended classes. After nursing students and their professors walked to the streets in protest, this happened. They charge that the department has neglected to address their problems at the college for years.

On Wednesday, thousands of employees connected to the South African Federation of Trade Unions (Saftu) and the Congress of SA Trade Unions (Cosatu) will stop working and protest the growing cost of living in the streets. An R1,500 stipend, a decrease in interest rates and food costs, and an end to load shedding are what they are requesting.
