What To Do in Newcastle South Africa?

Newcastle is one of the most exciting cities in South Africa, and it’s easy to see why. It has action-packed nightlife, fantastic food, and plenty of things to do. While you’re here, visit Newcastle Museum or explore the Butterfly Valley.

  • Newcastle Museum.
  • The Butterfly Valley.
  • Woodlands Boutique Hotel and Restaurant.* Horse Riding.
  • Abedare reserve and dam.
  • Tugela Falls and Nelson Mandela Capture site.

Newcastle has plenty of things to do including visiting museums, riding horses, hiking, and much more

  • Museum – The Newcastle Museum is in the central business district and has exhibits about local history as well as presenting a wide range of artefacts from around the world. It’s free to enter!
  • Horse Riding – There are several horse stables at different locations in town that you can hire for rides through beautiful scenery or along riverside paths with panoramic views over Tugela Falls or up into nature reserve areas like Mandela Capture Site (where Nelson Mandela was captured by security forces during his 27-year imprisonment). You’ll need your own transport here though; taxi drivers will usually try charging extra if they know where you want to go so it’s worth asking them what they charge before agreeing on a price first!
