When to Plant English Daisy in South Africa?

The English daisy is a perennial that is native to Europe and Asia. It is an attractive plant with large white petals that bloom in the summer months. The flowers are easy to grow and will thrive in any sunny spot, so long as it gets lots of sun. You can also grow them indoors if you have plenty of space!

How to plant English Daisy in South Africa?

Pick a spot in your garden that gets full to part sun.

When you plant English daisies in South Africa, it’s important to pick a spot that gets full sun. Full sunlight will ensure that your plants grow well and produce flowers all year long. They need at least six hours of direct sun per day for their flowers to develop properly. If you are planting in containers, make sure they get plenty of sunlight from all sides so the leaves can photosynthesize as much as possible before getting too close to the window or door opening where they might be shaded by trees or other structures around them.

Prepare the soil by mixing in some compost into the top 10cm of soil.

  • Add compost to the top 10cm of soil.
  • Use a fork to mix it in evenly, then use your hands to get it all mixed up around the roots of your plant
  • If you don’t have any compost handy, you can use fresh manure or leaf mulch instead (just make sure it doesn’t contain weed seeds).
  • Dig a hole about twice the depth and width of the pot.
  • Use a spade or shovel to make sure that you don’t damage your plant’s roots when digging. Make sure you dig deep enough to accommodate its roots, but not so deep that they’re exposed to cold soil temperatures when it’s still frozen in winter (you want them at least 12 inches deep). If your soil is loose, add some gravel to help keep things stable as well!
  • Once you’ve got everything lined upright and ready for planting, fill it with soil until there are no more air pockets left between each seed packet.

Plant the English daisy at approximately at the same depth as it was in the pot.

English daisies are best planted at the same depth they were in their pots. This will prevent water-logging and make sure that the roots have plenty of room to grow.

To prepare your soil, first, dig out any weeds or stones from around the base of your plant, then add organic matter (such as compost) to improve drainage. Once this has been done, lay down a layer of sand or gravel before adding some good-quality topsoil on top of that layer. Add more compost over each layer until you reach about 10cm deep – this should be enough for most perennials without causing problems with drainage issues later on down the line!
