ban on the domestic sale and transportation of alcoholic beverages was partially abolished in South Africa on July 25, 2021. However, there is still a lack of clarity over how the government will respond to future alcohol bans, which was welcomed by many people. Alcohol prohibitions have had a significant negative influence on the domestic booze market and its supply networks. The United States and South Africa’s imports of liquor have both been significantly impacted by alcohol prohibitions. While U.S. liquor exports from January to May 2021 increased by 27% year over year to US$6 million, this increase could not be sufficient to return to the pre-COVID-19 level of around US$17 million in 2019. U.S. exports are likely to have slowed down again as a result of the most recent alcohol restriction, and the ambiguity brought on by the temporary bans bydue to the most recent alcohol prohibition, as well as the ambiguity created by the interim ban.
