You may have heard of credit reports, but you’re not sure how they work and whether you need one. The short answer is “yes,” and the long answer is that it depends on your situation. If you want to get a loan or take out a credit card, it’s best to know what your score is.
Where to get your credit report in South Africa?
Getting your credit report is easy. You can do it through My Credit Check or My Credit Expert, or you can get it from the National Credit Regulator (NCR). Either way, you’ll get all three credit bureaus’ reports in one go – TransUnion South Africa, Experian South Africa and Equifax SA.
You can also request a copy of your monthly statement from any financial institution where you have an account or loan. This will give you a good idea of how much money is currently owed to them by yourself and other people who owe money on your behalf.
