Stellenbosch University (Afrikaans: Universiteit Stellenbosch) is a public research university situated in Stellenbosch, a town in the Western Cape province of South Africa. Established in 1918, it was the first university in South Africa, hence its motto “Primus Inter Pares” – first among equals.
