Where to Apply for Uk Visa in South Africa?

Immigrating to the United Kingdom can be one of the most exciting experiences of your life, but it can also be incredibly frustrating and difficult to navigate, especially if you don’t know all the rules, regulations, and deadlines involved in obtaining your UK visa from outside the country. But don’t worry – you’re not alone! Our step-by-step guide on how to apply for your UK visa will walk you through every step of this process so that you can get your visa quickly, easily and painlessly!

Before You Start

It is important to know the basic requirements before you start your application process. These include: making sure that you are eligible, acquiring the documents and getting them translated, filling out forms and payment of fees. The UK visa application process can be long and complicated, so it is best not to leave anything until the last minute. You may need additional forms depending on your situation, so be sure to check the full list of requirements here before you apply.

Steps for Applying

Planning is the key to making sure that you are ready when it comes time to apply. You’ll need a few documents, including your passport and an application form with your biographical information. You’ll also need at least two photographs of yourself, one which is recent and clearly shows your face. The other can be any picture you like as long as it too shows your face clearly. As well as these pictures, you’ll also need proof of identities such as your driver’s license or birth certificate.

Step 1. Gather all the required documents

1. You will need your passport, which should be valid for at least six months from the date of your application. 2. A completed and signed visa application form, with one photocopy of the form.

3. If you are applying for a child under 18 years old, you will need to provide their original birth certificate and the original photocopy of any other relevant legal documentation (e.g., divorce papers).

4. If you have applied before and had your visa refused then this could impact whether or not you can apply again. The processing time can take anything from five working days up to three months so do keep this in mind when making travel arrangements!

Step 2. Complete the application form and book your appointment at the VFS Application Centre

You will need to complete an application form and book an appointment at the VFS Application Centre. You can do this on their website or by phone. This step is essential because it will determine how long your wait time will be once you’re there.

Step 3. Attending the UK Visa Application Centre (VAC)

-If you are resident of the Western Cape, you will need to attend the VAC at the International Airport. The closest one is on the second floor of T1 International Arrivals.

You can only apply at this VAC if your visa has been refused and you have not been granted an extension. If this is not your case, please visit another VAC in Johannesburg or Pretoria. Remember that there are two types of appointments: General and Urgent.

Step 4. After Completing Your UK Visa Application

UK visa applications are processed by the British Consulate-General or Embassy, depending on your location. You will be informed of the decision on your application when you attend an interview, usually within 3 weeks of submitting your application. If you’ve been approved, you’ll be given a visa sticker and information about any conditions that have been imposed on your visit.
