Here is a list of South African public figures we have lost recently
Shona Ferguson
Shona Ferguson is an actor, writer, and producer. He attended the University of Cape Town where he majored in Social Anthropology and Criminology. He also studied Acting at UCT’s Drama school.
He started his acting career with a small role in the South African film “Shaka Zulu”. He appeared as one of two petty criminals who go on a crime spree after getting arrested by police officers while trying to rob them, but are stopped before they can commit any crimes because of their lack of weapons or knowledge about how police work. The film was released in 2003 but was not well received by critics or audiences alike because of its gritty style which some found difficult to watch compared with other similar movies made such as “Tsotsi”.
He died in 2021 because of COVID-19 leaving his wife, Connie Ferguson.
Killer Kau
Sakhile Hlatshwayo was a talented musician who died of COVID-19, a rare and deadly virus that causes flu like symptoms. He was 23 years old, an Amademoni member with over 3 million followers on social media and had just released his first album with the group.
He leaves behind his parents, brother, and sister (who are also musicians) as well as many friends in South Africa’s music industry who will miss him dearly.
