About Wiphold:

Wiphold, short for Women Investment Portfolio Holdings, is a proud black-owned investment company that was founded in 1994 by three African women. This company has made significant strides in the market by acquiring and developing strategic investments in various sectors, including mining and energy, food and agriculture, infrastructure, and financial services. Wiphold believes in investing in initiatives that bring value and empowerment to the communities they serve. They established the Women Development Trust Fund, which provides financial assistance to both men and women pursuing tertiary education.

Having been in operation for over 27 years, Wiphold has impacted more than 200,000 beneficiaries and distributed over R865 million among stakeholders.

Wiphold Bursary Fund 2025-2026:

Wiphold is offering bursaries for the upcoming academic year to students pursuing degrees in fields related to agriculture, actuarial science, engineering, Chartered Accounting, or BCom Accounting.

Bursary recipients will be selected based on their academic excellence and involvement in the school community. The number of available bursaries will depend on the availability of funds.

The bursary will cover accommodation fees, textbooks, test fees, and provide a monthly stipend. Bursaries will be renewed annually, subject to evaluation by the Wiphold Bursary Fund based on the recipient’s academic performance and dedication.

Selected candidates will enter into a contract with the Wiphold bursary committee and may be required to participate in various social responsibility initiatives, corporate activities, and vacation work if requested by Wiphold or its partner organizations.

Eligibility Criteria:

Before applying for the bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Applicants must be South African citizens who have completed or are currently pursuing Matric (Grade 12).
The applicant must intend to pursue a full-time degree in one of the fields specified by the bursary (Agriculture, Actuarial Science, Chartered Accounting, or Engineering) and aspire to become a professional in that field.
Candidates must have achieved a minimum of 70% in Mathematics (not Mathematics Literacy) and English in the Matric examination, with an overall average of ‘A’ or ‘B.’
Applicants must have applied to at least two universities, with one of them being the one closest to their home.

To apply for the Wiphold Bursary Fund 2025-2026, download and complete the Wiphold Bursary Application Form.

Applicants provisionally selected based on their Grade 11 final marks will be notified by November 30. Other successful candidates will receive confirmation in January 2025-2026, after the release of the Matric results. If you do not receive any communication regarding your application, consider it unsuccessful.

Documents Required:

Candidates must submit the following documents to complete their application:

Certified copy of ID document.
Recent passport-size photograph attached to the application form.
Grade 11 mark sheets if currently pursuing Matric or Matric certificate/final results if completed Matric.
Proof of income of parents/guardians (latest payslips if employed, affidavit if unemployed, and proof of pension or grant if applicable).
Certified copies of certificates, testimonials, and supporting documents.
An essay describing the applicant, their family background, and future career plans.
Handwritten responses to specific questions on a separate sheet (related to career aspirations and qualifications).
