The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences’ (FMHS) vision is education and research for innovation, incorporating interdisciplinary cooperation and new thinking to meet the special health needs of South Africans and promote social responsibility.
As one of the leaders in health sciences, the FMHS strives to create a student-centred learning culture in which independent, professional people can develop and where new knowledge, applicable to Africa, is generated. The FMHS adds value to the broader community through participation and service delivery.
The FMHS strives to create an inclusive environment in which a diverse community of students and staff can feel supported, respected, affirmed and valued. The Faculty not only has the best undergraduate throughput figures in the University, but also has the best diversity profile. The excellent quality of education that the Faculty offers can, amongst others, be measured in terms of the international recognition that our postgraduate training enjoys.
