Residency and Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen residing in Gauteng Province.

Educational Background:

  • Senior Certificate or National Senior Certificate holders.
  • Current Grade 12 students or National Vocational Certificate in Primary Health holders.

Advantage for Certain Applicants: Preference may be given to applicants who studied in Quintile 1, 2, 3 schools in townships, informal settlements, and hostel communities within Gauteng.

Subject Criteria

National Senior Certificate: English Level 4, Life Sciences Level 4, Mathematics Level 4/Maths Literacy Level 5, and an APS of 27 or more (Life Orientation counts half the score).

National Vocational Certificate: 50% in Fundamental Subjects and 60% in Vocational Subjects.

Current Grade 12 Learners: Must meet the National Senior Certificate requirements based on Grade 11 final results.

Competencies and Attributes

Applicants should demonstrate abilities such as problem-solving, patience, communication, leadership, flexibility, calmness during a crisis, and compassion.

Commitment Post-Selection

Successful applicants must sign an agreement with the Department of Health, attend lectures, and participate in Work Integrated Learning (WIL), which includes shifts on public holidays, weekends, and nights as part of the program.
