Where is Britannia Bay in South Africa?

Britannia Bay is a small town in the West Coast District Municipality in the Western Cape province of South Africa, with a permanent population of around 3,000 people. The area originally had an abundance of whaling stations, which were worked by the indigenous Khoi people. Today this small seaside village is part of the greater St Helena Bay area and its name derives from the wreck of HMS Britannia in 1819. There are a number of nearby nature reserves, such as the Thala private nature resort, Koeberg Nature Reserve and Shelley Point Golf Estate.

Places you can visit in Britannia Bay

There are a number of nearby nature reserves, such as the Thala private nature resort and Koeberg Nature Reserve. The Thala private nature resort is a great place to go for a hike and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. It’s also home to some interesting geological features like fossilized trees and dinosaur footprints! If you’re looking for something more exotic, Koeberg Nature Reserve has one of South Africa’s top birding spots.
