ADMISSION CRITERIA

Senior Certificate Holders (Before 2008)

• • Requirements:
    • Must hold a Senior Certificate or its equivalent.
    • Need C grade at Standard or D grade at Higher Grade in English and Mathematics.
    • Require D grade at Standard or E grade at Higher Grade in Physical Science.
  • Selection:
    • Must achieve an Admission Point Score (APS) of 20 or above.
  • Suggested Subjects: None specified.

National Senior Certificate Holders (2008 onwards)

• • Requirements:
    • Should possess a National Senior Certificate with a higher certificate endorsement or an equivalent qualification.
    • Minimum achievement level of 4 for English (either home or first additional language) and for Mathematics or Technical Mathematics.
    • Minimum achievement level of 3 for Physical Sciences or Technical Sciences.
    • If lacking in Mathematics, Physical Sciences, or two additional subjects, one may take these subjects at a TVET College. Passing with at least a 50% performance level allows re-application to the University.
  • Selection:
    • Must achieve an Admission Point Score (APS) of 20 or more.
  • Suggested Subjects: Engineering Graphics and Design, Mechanical Technology.

TVET College Graduates

• • Requirements:
    • A National Certificate (Vocational) at NQF Level 4, accredited by Umalusi.
    • At least 50% (APS of 4) in English and Mathematics and 40% (APS of 3) in Physical Sciences.
