Globeleq is a global power company founded in 2002, with operations in the electric power sector worldwide. The company specializes in the development of energy projects and is a pioneering force in the emerging field of electric power sector development. Globeleq South Africa is a subsidiary company established in 2012 and is responsible for managing three power-producing projects in South Africa, focusing on renewable energy sources.
Globeleq Scholarships 2025-2026:
Globeleq South Africa administers the Globeleq Scholarship Fund (GSF) to sponsor a specific number of students in South Africa. The fund is managed by Globeleq South African Management Services (GSAMS) and is funded by independent power producers (IPPs), the Globeleq Educational Trust (GET), and other shareholders. The primary objective of the scholarship fund is to address the demand for technical skills in South Africa’s renewable energy sector, thereby creating a skilled talent pool for the industry.
The Globeleq Scholarships for 2025-2026 are categorized as follows:
- Globeleq Communities Scholarship Fund: Awarded to students pursuing certificate or degree courses in any field. Applicants must reside within a 50-kilometer radius of the areas where Globeleq operates its projects.
- Globeleq Engineering Scholarship Fund: Awarded to students studying Bachelor of Technology (Btech) or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering.
- Globeleq Scarce Skills Scholarship Fund: Awarded to students residing in the Northern or Eastern Cape provinces pursuing undergraduate degrees or certificates in Agriculture, Education, or Nursing.
Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants for Globeleq Scholarships 2025-2026 must meet specific eligibility criteria:
For GSF Engineering Scholarship:
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Must have completed Matric (Grade 12).
- The applicant must pursue their education from an accredited and recognized institution in South Africa.
- Candidates must reside in the Northern or Eastern Cape.
- Should be entering the first or higher year in Agriculture, Education, or Nursing undergraduate degree or certificate studies when applying for the scholarship.
- Must be pursuing either a BTech or National Diploma in Mechatronic or Electrical engineering.
- Must be moving into their second or higher year of study in 2022 (bridging courses and extended programs are excluded).
- Must be studying at a recognized South African institute.
- Must have an inherent interest in the solar sector.
For GSF Scarce Skills Scholarship:
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Must have either completed Matric (Grade 12) or be currently in Matric.
- Must be residing in either the Northern Cape or Eastern Cape province.
- Must be pursuing a degree or certificate in the field of Agriculture, Education, or Nursing.
- Must be studying at a recognized institution in South Africa.
- Must be entering their first year of study in 2025-2026.
For GSF Communities Scholarship:
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Must have either completed Matric (Grade 12) or be currently in Matric.
- Must be residing within a 50-kilometer radius of specific Globeleq project locations.
- Must be studying at a recognized institution.
- Must be entering their first year of study from 2025-2026.
Application Process:
To apply for Globeleq Scholarships 2025-2026, applicants can visit the Globeleq Scholarship Applications 2025-2026 page.
Applicants will receive a confirmation email upon submitting the application. If the application is unsuccessful, candidates will be notified accordingly. Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend an interview.
Required Documents:
Applicants must scan and upload the following documents to the online application platform:
- Certified copy of ID documents
- Certified copy of complete academic records, including Grade 11 and Matric results
- Latest academic transcripts (certified copy)
- Curriculum vitae (CV)
- Proof of registration on university letterhead
- A statement explaining the choice of field of study and plans for using education after graduation
- Recommendation letter attesting to character and academic performance (not from a family member)
- Proof of total monthly household income of parents or guardians, which can include the latest payslips if employed
Students below 18 years of age must also submit additional documents, such as the parent’s/guardian’s consent form and certified copies of the parent’s/guardian’s ID documents.
Closing Date:
The application deadline for Globeleq Scholarships 2025-2026 is October 31, before 12 pm. Late submissions will not be considered.
