About British American Tobacco (BAT):

BAT operates in approximately 180 countries and is a leading company in more than 50 countries.
In South Africa, BAT began its operations in 1904 and is currently the leading tobacco manufacturing company in the country. With over 50,000 employees worldwide, BAT is a global tobacco company. It is known for its merger with Rothmans International in 1999, which led to the creation of British American Tobacco South Africa. The company specializes in the manufacturing and distribution of cigarettes in the country.
About the BAT Bursary Program:
British American Tobacco (BAT) offers financial support to undergraduate and postgraduate students through its bursary program. The bursaries are available in the following fields of study:
- Accounting (postgraduate studies)
- Industrial Engineering (undergraduate and postgraduate studies)
- Information Technology (undergraduate and postgraduate studies)
- Marketing (postgraduate studies)
Upon completing their studies, bursary recipients will be required to participate in a work-back program, where they will work for BAT for a duration equal to the bursary awarded.
Eligibility Requirements:
To be eligible for the BAT Bursary, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- South African citizenship
- Completed Matric
- Possession of a learner’s or driver’s license
- Undergraduate students: Enrolled full-time in Industrial Engineering or Information Technology
- Postgraduate students: Enrolled full-time in Accounting, Industrial Engineering, Information Technology, or Marketing

Eligible students should apply by submitting clear copies of the following supporting documents (submission of these documents is mandatory):
- ID document (certified copy)
- Matric certificate (certified copy)
- Latest academic record (on the letterhead of the tertiary institution)
- Proof of enrollment in one of the specified fields of study
- A motivational letter explaining why you deserve to receive the bursary
