About the Solomon Kalushi Mahlangu Postgraduate Scholarship Fund:
The Solomon Kalushi Mahlangu Postgraduate Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Solomon Mahlangu, who was wrongfully accused of terrorism and murder and executed under apartheid laws at the age of 23. The scholarship fund aims to assist full-time students pursuing studies in critical and scarce skills areas.
About the Scholarship Program – Fields Covered & Coverage Value:
The Solomon Kalushi Mahlangu Postgraduate Scholarship Fund covers the following fields of study:
- 1-year postgraduate qualification (excluding postgraduate diplomas)
- 1-year TVET qualification in creative arts
The scholarship provides coverage for the following expenses:
- Tuition fees
- Meals
- Accommodation
- Prescribed books and equipment (up to a specified threshold)
Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must meet the following minimum entry criteria to be eligible for the scholarship:
- South African citizenship
- Under 35 years old
- Completed Matric
- Completed an undergraduate degree qualification
- Achieved a minimum overall average of 60% for the degree qualification
- Intending to study one of the aforementioned qualifications
- Intending to study at a recognized public tertiary institution
- Proven financial need (household income of less than R15,000 per month)
