The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) is offering bursaries for the 2024-2025 academic year. These bursaries are open to students pursuing studies in various fields, including Agricultural Science, Artisans/Engineering, Medicine and Surgery, Criminology, Education, Finance and Logistics, Food Services, Graphic Design, Information Technology, Monitoring and Evaluation, Nursing, Occupational Directed Education, Training and Development Practices, Occupational Health and Safety, Penology and Correctional Services, Primary Health Care, Project Management, Psychology, Risk and Disaster Management, Security Management, and Supply Chain Management.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be eligible for the DCS Bursary:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Have completed Matric or an NCV certificate at NQF level 4.
  • Be between 18 and 35 years old and unemployed, or be an employee of the Department of Correctional Services, regardless of age.
  • Be studying or intending to study one of the specified qualifications.
  • Study or have been accepted to study at a recognized and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa.
  • Be in financial need.
  • Not be receiving financial support from any other private or public institution.
  • Candidates with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
