About the Department of Transport Bursary Program:

The Department of Transport, in partnership with UNISA, offers bursary opportunities for the 2025-2026 academic year. This program aims to support students pursuing their academic and tertiary goals in the transport sector. Bursaries are available for undergraduate and postgraduate studies at UNISA in the following fields:

Undergraduate studies:

  • Civil Engineering (Advanced Diploma)
  • Civil Engineering (Diploma)
  • Logistics (BCom)
  • Transportation Economics (BCom)

Postgraduate studies:

  • Logistics (Honours)
  • Transport Economics (Honours)

Additional Information about the Department of Transport Bursary:

  • The bursary covers tuition fees and prescribed textbooks but does not fund failed modules or repeated modules.
  • Bursary recipients must reapply for funding each year, and the award may be canceled if the recipient fails their studies.
  • The selection committee will choose candidates, and successful applicants will be notified through their myLife email account.

Eligibility Requirements for the Department of Transport Bursary:

To be eligible for this bursary, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be under the age of 35
  • Have completed Matric
  • Be registered at UNISA for one of the specified qualifications (undergraduate or postgraduate)
  • Have achieved an average of at least 50% in the previous year of study
  • Have passed 50% or more of registered/funded modules in the previous year (for returning bursary recipients)
  • Be unemployed

How to Apply for the Department of Transport Bursary:

To apply for the bursary, follow these steps:

  1. Download and complete the Department of Transport Bursary Application Form for 2025-2026 (provided in .docx format).
  2. In the application form, indicate that you heard about the bursary from “Uni24.co.za.”
  3. Submit clear copies of required supporting documents along with your completed application.

Supporting documents (compulsory for application):

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate (if applicable)
  • Latest academic transcript/record on official letterhead with the university logo (certified copy)
  • Proof of income for the person responsible for your needs (parent/guardian)

All certified copies must be no older than 6 months.

Submit your application via your myLife email account to makgarc@unisa.ac.za. Include “Department of Transport Bursary 2025-2026” in the email subject line.

Closing Date for the Department of Transport Bursary:

The closing date for applications is 3 February. Ensure that your application is submitted before this date to be considered.
