Course Content

Participants will gain competence in various aspects of home care, including:

General hygiene

Bed bathing and bed making

Mouth care

Prevention of bedsores

Monitoring vital signs like temperature, pulse, and blood pressure

Basic nutrition and family education

Care of the dying

HIV/AIDS and TB awareness

Foundational anatomy and physiology

Professional communication

Understanding patient rights and dignity

Palliative care

Assessments and Certification

Assessments, assignments, and tests will be conducted.

A certificate of completion will be issued.

The first aid module is certified by the Resuscitation Council of Southern Africa and accredited by the American Heart Association, valid for two years.

Accreditation and Recognition

HospiceWits is accredited with the Hospice Palliative Care Association South Africa (HPCA), the Council for Health Service Accreditation of Southern Africa (Cohsasa), and the Quality Council for Trades and Occupation (QCTO).

Application and Payment Details

  • Payment: Do not make any payments or deposits until instructed by the training coordinator.
  • Payment Options:
    • 50% deposit upon registration confirmation.
    • 25% payment mid-course.
    • 25% payment at the end of the course.
  • Course Changes: Dates and times may change due to unforeseen circumstances.
  • Refunds and Extensions: No refunds for cancellations or non-completion. Fees apply for course extensions.
  • Certification: Issued only after full payment.
  • Course Materials: Accessible only after receipt of the deposit or full payment.
