Dis-Chem is a South African chain of retail stores that sells groceries, health, beauty and personal care products. It was founded in 2003 by the Dis-Chem Group, a company founded by Mr Michael Baumgarten and Mr Ludwig Kowarsky in 1984. The company operates over 150 stores across the country under the Dis-Chem name, as well as over 60 other retail outlets under different brand names such as Woolworths Select, Makro, Spar and others.
