When should I register?
Registration Is Required
If the total amount of taxable supplies made in any successive twelve-month period exceeds or is projected to exceed R1 million, a business must register for VAT. Within 21 days of exceeding R1 million, the business must register for VAT via eFiling or complete a VAT 101 – Application for Registration form and submit it to the local SARS branch.
Non-resident suppliers of some electronic services are also required to register for VAT at the end of each month if the total value of taxable supplies exceeds R1 million.

VAT vendors can also use eFiling to request and acquire a VAT Notice of Registration:
