Institute of Management Accounting and Strategy (IMAS) Bursary 2024-2025
ABOUT THE IMAS BURSARY PROGRAMME
The Institute of Management Accounting and Strategy (IMAS), in partnership with the Finance and Accounting Services SETA (FASSET), is offering the Unemployed Graduate or Matriculants Bursary. IMAS will award 30 bursaries for students to pursue either the Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) or Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA) Global Professional Accountancy Qualifications.
FIELDS COVERED
The bursary covers studies for either of the following Global Professional Accountancy Qualifications:
- Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA): Suitable for candidates aiming for careers in taxation, accounting, financing, internal and external auditing, and business.
- Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA): Targeted at candidates interested in careers in management, finance, business, risk management, accounting, consulting, and strategy. CIMA is the world’s largest body of management accountants.
COVERAGE VALUE & SELECTION
The bursary will cover the following expenses: registration with the professional accounting body, exemption fees, tuition fees, examination fees (limited to one attempt per subject), subscription fees, and study materials. However, it will not cover transport, accommodation, or living-out allowances.
Successful candidates will be notified via email by no later than 15 April 2024-2025. If you do not receive feedback by this date, consider your application unsuccessful.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- South African citizenship.
- Must be Black (African, Coloured, or Indian). A maximum of 20% White students will be funded.
- Completed Matric OR obtained a National Diploma or BCom Bachelor’s degree from a recognized and accredited South African tertiary institution.
- Currently unemployed.

Along with your application form, submit clear copies of the following supporting documents (certified copies):
- ID document
- Matric certificate (if applicable)
- Academic transcript and graduation certificate (if applicable)
- Latest tertiary results (on tertiary institution letterhead)
CLOSING DATE
The closing date for applications for the IMAS Bursary is 14 April 2024-2025. Ensure that you submit your application before this date, as late applications will not be accepted.
