About the Limpopo Department of Economic Development, Environment, and Tourism (LEDET):

The Limpopo Department of Economic Development, Environment & Tourism (LEDET) is responsible for promoting economic development, growth, investment, tourism, and sustainable environmental management within the Limpopo province, South Africa.

LEDET Bursary Program:

LEDET offers bursaries in various fields of study to support students within the Limpopo province. These fields of study include:

  • Nature Conservation (National Diploma)
  • Environmental Sciences (BSc)
  • Environmental Management (BSc)
  • Eco-Tourism (National Diploma)
  • Tourism Management (BTech/BCom/National Diploma)
  • Food Operations Management (National Diploma)
  • Industrial Engineering (Bachelor Degree/National Diploma)
  • Chemical Engineering (Bachelor’s Degree/BEng/National Diploma)
  • Mechanical Engineering (Bachelor’s Degree/National Diploma)
  • Physical/Process Metallurgy (BEng/National Diploma)
  • Business Management/Entrepreneurship (BCom/National Diploma)
  • Local Economic Development (Bachelor’s Degree)
  • LLB (Environmental Law as a major course)
  • Aquatic/Terrestrial Ecology (BSc Hons/Masters)
  • Botany (BSc Hons/Masters)

Bursary Coverage and Selection:

The LEDET bursary will cover various expenses, including registration fees, tuition fees, meals, and accommodation. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted. If you haven’t received any feedback within 8 weeks of the application deadline, consider your application unsuccessful.

Eligibility Requirements:

To qualify for the LEDET Bursary, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • South African citizenship
  • Reside within the Limpopo province
  • Hail from a previously disadvantaged rural area
  • Completed Matric or currently in Matric
  • Achieved a Bachelor’s degree pass in Matric
  • Enrolled or planning to study full-time in one of the specified fields of study

How to Apply:

To apply for the LEDET Bursary, follow these steps:

  1. Download and complete the LEDET Bursary Application Form for 2025-2026 (PDF format).
  2. Submit clear copies of the required supporting documentation along with your completed application form. Ensure that you provide all necessary documents, as any missing items may result in the disqualification of your application. The required documents include:
  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate (certified copy) if you have completed Matric
  • Matric mid-year results (certified copy) if you are currently in Matric
  • Full academic record (certified copy) if you are currently at university
  • University acceptance letter
  • Proof of parents’ or guardians’ income (certified copy)

Closing Date:

The application deadline for the LEDET Bursary is 20 December. Ensure that you submit your application before this date, as late applications will not be accepted.
