You are on Uni24.co.za, in this article, we bring to you everything to know about Naked Insurance. An insurance company is any firm that provides a means by which risk is managed. Put it this way, Naked Insurance sells packages that offer protection against unexpected life circumstances in relation to damages, loss, theft or any bad situation.

With that said, Naked Insurance provides an array of insurance protection categorized into four groups. These are Naked Insurance Motor Insurance, Naked Insurance Phone Insurance, and Naked Insurance Home Insurance.

About Naked Insurance

Naked’s revolutionary business model does just that, and in doing so, breaks the age-old cycle of distrust between insurers and their customers.

Unlike other insurance, we charge a fixed percentage of your premiums to do everything. No hidden fees or hidden agendas (that’s why we’re called Naked!). Our flat fee means that our income doesn’t depend on how much we pay out in claims, so we have no reason to make claiming difficult.

When claims are low, premiums left over at the end of the year go to causes you care about, supporting positive change in South African communities, rather than growing insurance company profits.

That’s the Naked Difference and it changes everything about insurance.

How does excess work?

Your excess is the amount that will come out of your pocket when you make a claim. When you buy a policy you choose your excess for if you should claim. For example, if you have an approved claim of R100,000 and your excess is R5,000, you will pay R5,000 and we will pay R95,000. For more information, check out our blog article: Everything you need to know about your car insurance excess.

What happens to my premiums when I change my excess or use CoverPause®?

When you change your excess your premium will change too. The higher your excess, the lower your insurance premium will be, and vice versa.

If you pause your accident cover, your premium will drop. The pro rata amount is then refunded or collected from your bank account. Once you resume your accident cover, your full comprehensive premium will reflect on the app.

Will my credit score be affected when I do a quote?

Once you have done your first quote with Naked, we cache your credit score. This means that you can do multiple quotes and it won’t affect your credit score.

Why are Naked’s premiums so low?

Our premiums are so low because of technology. Our automated self-service system allows you to get a final quote, buy your policy, and even process some claims without any interference from us.

We use tech and AI rather than call centres or brokers to run and manage your policy. This means fewer costs for us, which translates into lower premiums for you. Not only is this more convenient, it’s also more efficient. Our AI and tech allow clients to quote, buy and claim on the Naked web or app.

Do I have to download the Naked app?

You can purchase a policy from us via the website or the app. If you buy on the web, you will need to download the app to submit a selfie of your stuff. The app is where you can find other cool things like CoverPause® and our referral programme. It’s also the place where you manage your policy, call for a tow truck or submit a claim.

Does Naked have any additional excesses?

The short answer: no! In order to prevent surprises when it comes to claiming, we have made sure that there are no additional excesses in any of our products. The excess you choose is the maximum amount you will ever have to pay on a valid claim.

How do excesses work on glass claims?

On glass claims, the excess is R0 on claims under R2,000. On claims between R2,000 and R3,000, the excess = claim amount minus R2,000, and when claims are over R3,000, the excess is R1,000.
