ABOUT THE QUEEN ELIZABETH COMMONWEALTH SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME
The Association of Commonwealth Universities is offering the Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarships (QECS) for the /2024 academic year. The scholarship provides an opportunity for students to pursue a two-year Master’s degree in a low or middle income Commonwealth country.
Scholarships are available at selected institutions in various fields, including Pharmacology and Process Engineering at Stellenbosch University, and multiple fields at Tshwane University of Technology, University of Pretoria, University of the South Pacific (Fiji, Samoa, Vanuatu), University of Colombo (Sri Lanka), and University of Sri Jayewardenepura (Sri Lanka).
MORE ABOUT THE QUEEN ELIZABETH COMMONWEALTH SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME – EXPENSES COVERED
The Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarship covers various expenses, including tuition fees, a living allowance (stipend), return economy flights to the host country, and a one-off arrival allowance. Upon request and approval, scholars may also receive a research support grant.
The scholarship aims to empower students committed to creating positive change in their home countries and the countries where they will study. It provides a life-changing opportunity to experience a new country, culture, and academic environment, while building a lifelong global network.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE QECS SCHOLARSHIP
Applicants must meet the following minimum eligibility criteria to apply for the Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarship:
- Citizenship or refugee status in a Commonwealth country
- Completion of an undergraduate degree at a 2:1 equivalent level
- Intention to pursue a two-year Master’s degree
- Intention to study outside the home country or country of citizenship
- Application to one of the approved institutions in the specified fields
- Submission of a university application concurrently with the scholarship application
- Completion of the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) equivalence if applying for studies in South Africa
- Fulfillment of the entry requirements of the selected institution
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE QECS SCHOLARSHIP
Applications must be submitted online through the Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarship Application portal. Applicants are required to register a profile before accessing the application.

The closing date for applications is 24 May at 15:00 UTC time. Late applications will not be accepted.
