About Sanlam Bursaries:

Sanlam is offering a bursary programme for high-potential students who are looking to advance their studies in Actuarial Science. The bursary aims to provide financial support to students who face financial constraints in pursuing their actuarial studies. The programme is open to matriculants, actuarial students who have enrolled to study Actuarial Science in 2024-2025, and current students in their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year of Actuarial Science studies.

The Sanlam Group is committed to helping students achieve financial confidence, security, and dedication to building their future. The bursary covers tuition and accommodation fees, academic support and mentoring from Sanlam actuarial professionals, general allowance for pocket money and books, guaranteed employment after completing studies, continuous payment and support during actuarial board exams, work rotation opportunities, vacation work, and networking opportunities with Sanlam staff members.

Eligibility Criteria for the Bursary:

To be eligible for the Sanlam bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • South African citizens or non-South African citizens
  • Intending to study full-time towards an Actuarial Science qualification in 2024-2025 or already studying full-time towards an Actuarial Science qualification (1st, 2nd, or 3rd year)
  • Demonstrated commitment to academic success (for undergraduate students)
  • Minimum score of 90% for Mathematics and an overall grade of A (Matric results may be considered)
  • Strong math skills, problem-solving ability, and discipline (for current Matric students)
  • Preference given to South Africans from designated groups (Africans, Coloureds, Indians) and non-South Africans based on merit
