Technisa College Learnership Programmes

Technisa College Learnership Programmes

Technisa stands alone as a specialized distance education provider within the Further Education and Training (FET) sector, presenting a spectrum of courses that extend from Adult Basic Education and Training (ABET) to Level 6 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). The institution’s reach is broad, with courses accessible nationally via a comprehensive network of distance learning centers as well as through structured workplace mentorship programs.

Responsive Program Development

Programs at Technisa are meticulously tailored to meet the evolving needs of the industry. Development of these programs is collaborative, drawing insights from key industry players. Historically, this synergy was achieved in tandem with industry training boards, a role now fulfilled by Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) and other entities associated with the NQF. Technisa’s forward-thinking Business Development Unit spearheads the introduction of new courses by balancing industry consultations and extensive market research. Every aspect, from the development of course materials and recruitment of instructors to the administration of the courses, is financially assessed for viability before launching a new program. Industry partnerships occasionally contribute to funding, decided on an individual basis. Despite careful planning, there are instances when courses, like the funeral directing program, do not attract enough enrollment, challenging their financial sustainability.

Hybrid Educational Platforms

Technisa is embracing an educational evolution, integrating the classic model of distance learning with the establishment of regional distance education centers. This hybrid approach offers students the traditional flexibility of distance education augmented with the enriching experience of in-person instruction and interaction.

Additionally, Technisa pioneers in implementing structured, hands-on learnerships. In this model, the college imparts the theoretical framework, while local enterprises provide the practical environment and guidance necessary for experiential learning. Students engaged in these learnerships are concurrently enrolled with Technisa for academic coursework and with a local learnership center for the practical application of their skills, ensuring a well-rounded educational journey.
