About Sport and Recreation
While the primary function of TUT is academic, the value of the holistic development of students and establishing a culture of participation and competition is central to the institution’s focus on the well-being of students.
TUT Sport contributes in building a strong TUT brand and the University’s sportsmen and women, including coaches and administrators, annually represent the country at national and international competitions.

Competitions
All clubs are registered for participation in community league, provincial and national tertiary competitions. Provision is also made for mass participation and recreational activities.
A large number of TUT students compete at provincial, national and international level.
Sports Bursaries
Sports Bursaries are available to athletes who participate at international, national and provincial levels. Terms and conditions apply. The closing dates for the applications are 5 March for the 1st semester, and 20 July for the 2nd semester.
