About TuksSport:
TuksSport is the sports department of the University of Pretoria. It manages and operates various sports training facilities and clubs catering to a wide range of sports, from chess to cricket. These clubs are open to students, staff, alumni, and the community, offering not only training equipment but also services like sports psychology and injury support.
The TuksSport clubs provide a platform for individuals to train, compete, and excel in their chosen sports. Many South African athletes have utilized these clubs to enhance their skills and compete at both national and international levels.
TuksSport Sports Performance Support Fund Bursaries 2025-2026:
TuksSport is offering bursaries through the Sports Performance Support Fund to South African students who aspire to pursue a career in sports. These bursaries are designed to facilitate the recipients’ tertiary education and provide them with support for their sporting endeavors.
The bursaries are available for various sports disciplines, and applicants can select a single sport code for their application. The bursaries are initially awarded for one year and are subject to renewal based on the recipient’s performance, training attendance, and commitment.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for the TuksSport Sports Performance Support Fund Bursaries, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- South African citizenship
- Completed Matric or currently in Matric
- Intending to pursue full-time education at the University of Pretoria in the 2025-2026 academic year
- Demonstrated excellence and a strong track record in the eligible sports category
Application Process:
Here’s how to apply for the TuksSport Sports Performance Support Fund Bursaries:
- Apply online at the University of Pretoria: Visit the TuksSport website and select your sport to access the online application form.
- Complete the application form: Fill out the online Google Doc form for your chosen sport. After completing the Google Doc form, you’ll be redirected to an online application form that you need to fill out with accurate information.
- Provide necessary documents: Submit the following documents:
- ID document or birth certificate
- Grade 11 mark sheet
- Full-length photograph (A5 size in JPG format)
- Signed application form (if under 18 years of age)
- Submit your application: Send the application form and required documents to Mrs. Riekie Labuschagne at Riekie.labuschagne@up.ac.za.
Closing Date:
The application period for the TuksSport Sports Performance Support Fund Bursaries opened on March 1 and will close on July 31.
