Admission Guidelines for the Pretoria Campus

If you are considering enrolling in this qualification at the Pretoria Campus, please take note of the following important information regarding admission requirements and selection criteria:

Admission Requirements and Selection Criteria for Pre-2008 Senior Certificate Holders:

  • You should possess a Senior Certificate or an equivalent qualification.
  • Your English grade should be a D symbol (50 – 59%) at Higher Grade or a C symbol (60 – 69%) at Standard Grade.
  • To be considered for this qualification, applicants must have an Admission Point Score (APS) of at least 21.

Assessment Procedure for Pre-2008 Senior Certificate Holders:

  • All applications meeting the minimum requirements will be required to submit a prescribed portfolio.

Admission Requirements and Selection Criteria for Post-2008 National Senior Certificate Holders:

  • You should have a National Senior Certificate with a bachelor’s degree or a diploma endorsement, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Your English grade should be at least an achievement level of 4 for English (home language or first additional language).
  • To be considered for this qualification, applicants must have an Admission Point Score (APS) of at least 21.

Assessment Procedure for Post-2008 National Senior Certificate Holders:

  • All applications meeting the minimum requirements will be required to submit a prescribed portfolio.

Minimum Duration: Three years.

Presentation: Day classes with the possibility of classes and assessments on Friday afternoons and/or Saturdays.

Intake for the Qualification: January only.

Exclusion and Readmission: Refer to Chapter 2 of Students’ Rules and Regulations for information on exclusion and readmission policies.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), Equivalence, and Status: See Chapter 30 of Students’ Rules and Regulations for details on RPL, equivalence, and status.

Practicals: Attendance of practical classes is compulsory. Students must pass the practical component of a subject to be admitted to the examination.
