a.Admission requirement(s):

A Magister Technologiae: Food and Beverage Management or a qualification at NQF Level 8 (old) or NQF Level 9 (new) in the food and beverage field.

b.Selection criteria:

Selection is based on a personal interview with the departmental selection panel. Registration prior to the approval of a protocol is provisional and will be made official only if the protocol is approved by the Faculty Committee for Postgraduate Studies. These procedures will be fully explained to prospective students during their personal interview.

c.Duration:

A minimum of two years and a maximum of five years. Students must re-register each year for this qualification.

d.Presentation:

Research.

e.Intake for the qualification:January and July.

f.Structure:

This qualification consists of a research project that has to be recorded in the form of a thesis.

Before the thesis is accepted for examination, an article based on the research should have been accepted by a peer-evaluated accredited journal (or a patent or artefact should have been successful). A draft version (approved by the supervisor) of a second article based on the research, with acknowledgement of receipt by a peer-evaluated accredited journal, should be submitted with the thesis.
