BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Would you like to manage your choir more effectively
and make informed practical decisions?
The SLP is aimed at skills development and empowerment in the choral community which shapes a large part of the South African population. The skills developed in this programme are tailor-made to the specific needs of the unique environment of choirs in the creative sector. The 8-week part-time programme focuses on developing skills in fundraising, financial management, brand management, operations management and understanding choral music as heritage and within cultural policy.

Current choir administrators and office bearers, individual participants in community and institutional choirs, arts-culture managers, conductors, choral music associations and teachers with or without a music background. The SLP equips participants with the management skills necessary for sustaining choirs at various levels in South African society.
Participants who enroll for the SLP should have at least an NQF level 4 qualification or Grade 12 and/or recognised prior experience in a community, church or institutional choir as a choir administrator, a choir office bearer, a conductor, a chorister, part of a choral music association, a choir teacher (with or without a music background), etc.

The SLP is offered in lectures, in-class discussions, written exercises and an individually constructed portfolio. All of which are compulsory for participants to pass the SLP and be given a certificate of competence.
