a.Admission requirement(s):

A Baccalaureus Technologiae: Interior Design or a relevant qualification. A candidate should preferably have passed the subject Research Methods in the Arts or Research Methodology before registering, but must definitely do so before the dissertation will be accepted.

b.Selection criteria:

Submission of an acceptable letter of intent to the Head of the Department or Departmental Research Committee.

c.Duration:

A minimum of one year and a maximum of three years.

d.Presentation:

Research.

DISSERTATION ASSESSMENT

(Subject custodian: Department of Visual Communication)

The student should produce research in a chosen field that is in, about, of or through interior design and re- lated interior design areas and should contribute to knowledge production in that field. The research problem, its justification, process and outcome are reported in a dissertation. Should the candidate choose to include

a practical component, the outcome of the practical component must be exhibited or presented in a public forum and should comply with the generally accepted norms of research at that level. The research protocol is controlled by an internal supervisor with whom weekly contact is encouraged. In addition, a co-supervisor with expertise in the chosen field of study may be appointed, if necessary. (No formal tuition)
