Important Notification for New Applicants:

Before we dive into the details of the program, it’s essential to note that for students planning to enroll in this qualification in 2017 or later, there is a significant change to be aware of. Starting from 2020, the program will no longer lead to a Baccalaureus Technologiae degree, as it is being replaced by qualifications aligned with the newly-implemented Higher Education Qualification Sub-Framework. Therefore, it’s crucial to stay updated by regularly checking the university’s website for any new qualifications that may not be included in this Prospectus.

Admission Requirements and Selection Criteria:

Admission requirements for the NDHR96 program vary based on your academic background.

For Applicants with a Senior Certificate Before 2008:

If you obtained your Senior Certificate before 2008, you need a Senior Certificate or an equivalent qualification. Selection for this category is based on a TUT potential assessment.

For Applicants with a National Senior Certificate in or After 2008:

If you completed your National Senior Certificate in or after 2008, you’ll need a National Senior Certificate with a bachelor’s degree or a diploma endorsement, or an equivalent qualification with an achievement level of at least 4 for English (home language or first additional language) and 3 for Mathematics or 3 for Mathematical Literacy. Applicants with a 3 for English (home language or first additional language) and 3 for Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy will be considered for the National Diploma (Extended Curriculum). To be considered for this qualification, applicants must have an Admission Point Score (APS) of at least 24. A score of 21 is required for the National Diploma (Extended Curriculum).

For Applicants with a National Certificate (Vocational):

If you hold a National Certificate (Vocational) in fields such as management, marketing, hospitality, tourism, and others, you’ll need to have at least 50% in English (home language or first additional language) and 50% in Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy, along with 60% in any other three compulsory vocational subjects and 50% in the fourth subject. The certificate must be in one of the specified fields. To be considered for this qualification, applicants must have an Admission Point Score (APS) of at least 27.

  • Minimum Duration: The NDHR96 program spans three years.
  • Presentation: The program is presented through day classes.
  • Intake: Admission for this qualification is available in January only.
  • Practicals: As part of the program, there is a compulsory practical program that supplements the normal syllabus for Personnel Management III. Students will attend the VIP Payroll course during the June/July or September/October recess.
  • Exclusion and Readmission: Program policies regarding exclusion and readmission can be found in Chapter 2 of the Students’ Rules and Regulations.
  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), Equivalence, and Status: For information regarding RPL, equivalence, and status, please consult Chapter 30 of the Students’ Rules and Regulations.

  • BMN120T: Business Management I (200 credits)
  • ENG120T: English (A level) (200 credits)
  • PRM110T: Personnel Management I (200 credits)
  • Plus one of the following subjects:
    • ACP100T: Accounting for Personnel Practitioners (200 credits)
    • QTQ100T: Quantitative Techniques I (200 credits) (Note: Not offered at Polokwane Campus)

First Semester:

  • EUC10AT: End-User Computing IA (100 credits)

Second Semester:

  • EUC10BT: End-User Computing IB (100 credits)

Total Credits for the First Year: 1,000 credits

Second Year:

  • BMN230T: Business Management II (200 credits)
  • IRS100T: Industrial Relations I (200 credits)
  • LLA100T: Labour Law (200 credits)
  • MTN100T: Management of Training I (200 credits)
  • PRM210T: Personnel Management II (200 credits)

Total Credits for the Second Year: 1,000 credits

Third Year:

  • BMN330T: Business Management III (250 credits)
  • IRS200T: Industrial Relations II (250 credits)
  • MTN200T: Management of Training II (250 credits)
  • PRM310T: Personnel Management III (250 credits)

Total Credits for the Third Year: 1,000 credits

Total Credits for the Qualification: 3,000 credits
