Collections
The Law Library comprises a selection of books on local and foreign law, law reports, statutes, and journals in both print and electronic formats and serves the needs of the staff and students of the Faculty of Law, as well as the legal fraternity of greater Pietermaritzburg.
The collection reflects the courses taught and research interests of the Law Faculty. The Library has a small collection of reference material (dictionaries and encyclopedias) and indexes.
The South African government publications collection is split between the Law Library and the Cecil Renaud Library. The Law Library houses some Government Gazettes and regulations and Debates of Parliament. Provincial statutes are also available.
Most South African resources and many foreign resources are now available electronically via Sabinet legal, Juta, LexisNexis, Heinonline and Westlaw. Many of these can be accessed from off campus provided the user can authenticate themselves with their UKZN lan login details.
Materials in high demand are available in the Academic Reserves collection which is housed at the Issue desk.
