What Days Are Lotto Draws in South Africa

What Days Are Lotto Draws in South Africa

The South African National Lottery’s first game, lotto, still offers jackpots that can reach eight figures while helping to benefit charitable organizations through the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund.

The most common form of gambling in South Africa is lotto, but Powerball has experienced faster growth in recent years because of its big rewards.

Times for lotto draws

Lotto draws are held twice a week on Wednesday and Saturday nights. To win the jackpot, players must match six numbers from 1 to 52. Following the main numbers, a Bonus Ball is selected from the same pool and, when matched with three, four, or five main balls, can increase payouts.

When are South African Lotto winnings awarded?

Players who match three or more of the six drawn numbers are given rewards; the value of the awards increases as more drawn numbers are matched. The odds of matching all six chosen numbers are one in 20,358,520, and everyone who does wins an equal portion of the jackpot. Each person who matches four, five, or six balls receives an equal share of the prize in that case. A rollover occurs when no player matches all six numbers, increasing the prize for the following Lotto draw.

Making lottery stakes

Six alternative numbers between 1 and 52 are available for players to choose from when purchasing tickets; there is also an option for random numbers to be created automatically.

“Quick Pick” refers to those who don’t want to make a decision.

Six numbered balls are picked at random, without replacement, from a set of 52 balls with digits ranging from 1 to 52. Additionally, a Bonus Ball is chosen that only impacts those who match five numbers.

What is South Africa’s Lotto Plus?

The only difference between LOTTO PLUS and LOTTO is that the player has an additional chance to win. To enter the LOTTO PLUS draw, a player must pay an additional R2.50 each board when purchasing a LOTTO ticket. The odds are the same, but the payouts are typically a little less.

The draw is broadcast live on SABC 2 at 21:00 on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
