What is the role of the CAO in South Africa?
They are a centralized application service that provides access to the most comprehensive variety of educational options in Higher and Further Education in Southern Africa. Because you may submit your CAO online application through CAO, you can also check the status of your CAO application using CAO.
What is the function of CAO?
The CAO’s mission is to centrally manage applications for higher education courses and to handle them in an efficient and fair manner. The function of determining admissions decisions remains with the HEIs.
What documents do I need to apply for CAO?
The following documents are required for your CAO application:

Report for September/Trial Grade 12 (as soon as you receive it)
Can you turn down a CAO offer?
If you desire to defer your current offer and do not accept it right away, you must inform the Admissions Office of the offering institution immediately by email with the subject line ‘Deferred Entry’. For more information, see page 19 of the CAO Handbook or the CAO website.
How many CAO courses may I apply for?
There are two course selection lists: Level 8 and Level 7/6. On both lists, applicants can select up to ten courses. The two lists are independent of one another; the only time an applicant must choose between them is when they receive offers from both lists in the same round.
