When Exactly Does Winter Start in South Africa?

The winter months in South Africa are from June through August. The weather is primarily chilly and dry, with snowfall in the highlands. On the other hand, the Cape experiences a lot of rain due to its Mediterranean climate and the fact that it does so mainly in the winter. It is spring from September through October, and while rain is frequently experienced, the weather may still be nice.
