When Exactly Is Black Friday in South Africa?

Black Friday has grown to be one of the busiest shopping days of the year in South Africa, where an increasing number of local merchants are cutting prices on a variety of goods.

History

The day after Thanksgiving in the 1950s saw an influx of suburban shoppers into Philadelphia, which led to the creation of the shopping holiday known as Black Friday. Today, it is a well-liked day for shoppers around as they look for deals from their favourite retailers, including South Africa. On this day, a lot of merchants have fantastic bargains on their merchandise.

Date

Black Friday is a retail ritual that originated in the United States and is now celebrated in South Africa on the Friday following American Thanksgiving. Although it is not a recognized holiday, many people “celebrate” it by buying in stores and online. This year it happens on the 25 November.

In South Africa, Black Friday has become more well-known over the past few years, bringing the start of the Christmas shopping season forward.

Because of Black Friday promotions, a lot of South Africans modify the timing of their purchases rather than the quantity or the item. However, there are still a lot of big-box purchases, and internet purchases are also up significantly today compared to yesterday.
