Corruption is any form of criminal offense undertaken by a person or an institution in authority in order to acquire illicit benefits.

Where to report corruption in South Africa?

Reports of corruption and fraud are made in person at a Public Protector office in any province of South Africa. Reports of corruption are also sent to them via the following ways:

1. Phone line on 0800 11 20 40 (toll free)

2. Email: registration2@pprotect.org

3. Fax to 012 362 3473

4. Download, fill and post the complaints form to the post office address Public Protector, Private Bag X677, PRETORIA 0001.

What are the information required to fill a report of corruption?

1. Give the name(s) of the perpetrator(s), their rank and accomplice.

2. Describe the items and the amounts stolen.

3. Provide dates, time and how often that corruption occurred.

4. Mention the name of the department, province, street address and the name and location of building.

5. Provide proof/evidence i.e. file number, amounts involved, etc.

6. Determine how the case can be investigated and how you can be contacted for more information.

How do I deal with corrupt officers?

A person can file a complaint and submit it to the deputy commissioner of South Africa Police Service.
