The Public Protector has the power to investigate any conduct in state affairs or any act or omission in connection with an office or position of emolument under a state institution; that results in improper or unlawful enrichment; constitutes misfeasance, malfeasance, nonfeasance, impropriety or irregularity; impacts negatively on the public interest; or undermines human dignity.
