About Goethe-Institut
The Goethe-Institut is a cultural institute established by the Federal Republic of Germany with a global presence. It is dedicated to promoting cross-cultural exchange, education, and social dialogue. The institute also focuses on facilitating the learning and teaching of the German language worldwide. For over seventy years, the Goethe-Institut has been instrumental in fostering cultural exchange, promoting the German language, and supporting the development of science and culture.
One of its collaborations, the Pop-Kultur Festival, offers various opportunities for individuals to engage with Berlin’s music scene in the lead-up to the festival. These opportunities include studio visits, jam sessions, internships, meetings with scholarship recipients and alumni, concerts, and more.
Goethe Talents Scholarship 2025-2026
The Goethe Talents Scholarship program invites young singers, composers, instrumentalists, and songwriters from transitioning or developing countries to apply for the 2025-2026 program in Berlin, Germany. The program will run from August 24 to September 4.
The Goethe Talents Scholarship is a 12-day initiative aimed at providing support and networking opportunities for emerging musicians, including singer-songwriters and composers. This collaborative effort between “Pop-Kultur” and the Goethe-Institut is in its eighth edition. The scholarship targets talents from the Global South, North Africa, Central Asia, and West Asia.
Coverage:
The Goethe-Institut covers the participation fee, round-trip travel expenses, accommodation, and per diem costs during the program (August 24 to September 4). Flight bookings, payments, visa-related matters, and accommodations with breakfast are all taken care of. The scholarship also provides access to the Pop-Kultur Festival’s professional networking area, a Festival Ticket, health insurance, and public transportation within Berlin.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Age between 20 and 30.
- Applicants must be from North Africa, the Global South, Central Asia, or West Asia.
- Proficiency in English (minimum B2 level).
- Demonstrated experience in the music field (at least 2 project proofs).
- Motivation to collaborate with a diverse group of individuals in music production and performance.
How to Apply:
Interested candidates can register for the program by completing the online application form.
Additional Requirements:
Applicants need to prepare a brief 15-minute input talk about their experiences in the music field and insights into their country’s music scene. Advanced English language skills (minimum B2 level) are necessary, and proof of involvement in at least three music projects is required. Any additional expenses incurred during the stay are the participant’s responsibility. The program is only available for individual applicants, and accompanying persons are not sponsored.
Closing Date:
The application period is from March 7, to April 3. A panel of experts will evaluate applications, and successful candidates will be notified by the end of May. The scholarship program will run from August 24 to September 4.
