ABOUT EEDF (EDUCATION EMPOWERMENT AND DEVELOPMENT FUND)
The Education Empowerment and Development Fund (EEDF) is a prominent non-profit organization dedicated to empowering young students through quality education. EEDF provides comprehensive support, including academic assistance, financial aid, and mentorship, with the primary aim of fostering success and personal growth among students. EEDF BURSARY PROGRAMME
EEDF invites students to apply for their bursary programme for the 2025-2026 academic year. The bursaries are open to students pursuing studies in various fields, including but not limited to:

EXPENSES COVERED & OBLIGATIONS
The value and coverage of the bursary will depend on the student’s household income. Students from the “missing middle” (with a household income between R350,000 and R600,000) will receive full support, including registration costs, tuition fees, accommodation, study materials, and a laptop allowance for first-year students. They will also benefit from tutoring, mentorship, meal assistance, and mental health support.
Students eligible for NSFAS funding (with a household income below R350,000) will receive full support for registration fees, along with comprehensive non-financial support, including mentorship, mental health support, and academic guidance.
As part of EEDF’s commitment to nurturing future leaders, successful bursary recipients are expected to engage in voluntary work, such as mentorship, within their communities after completing their studies.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE EEDF BURSARY
To be eligible for the EEDF Bursary, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Be a South African citizen or permanent resident.
- Be between the ages of 18 and 25 years old.
- Be entering their first year or final year of studies in 2025-2026.
- Have a combined household income of less than R600,000 per annum.
- Be accepted, enrolled, or provisionally accepted at one of the following tertiary institutions: North West University, University of Johannesburg, University of Pretoria, or University of the Witwatersrand.
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE EEDF BURSARY
To apply for the EEDF Bursary, follow these steps:
- Submit your application online at EEDF Bursary Application 2025-2026.
- In the field asking how you heard about the EEDF Bursary, enter “Uni24.co.za.”
- Prepare clear copies of the required supporting documents. Ensure that you have these documents ready:
- ID document (certified copy)
- Matric certificate (certified copy)
- Full academic record if currently studying
- Proof of registration/acceptance at one of the specified tertiary institutions
- Proof of household income (recent payslips if employed/affidavit if unemployed)
- Proof of residence (utility bill or rental agreement)
- Proof of disability, if applicable
- Motivational letter explaining why you should receive this award (see tips on writing a motivational letter for bursary applications)
- Recommendation letters from teachers, mentors, or individuals who can speak about your academic achievements, potential, and character (preferred)

CLOSING DATE FOR THE EEDF BURSARY
The closing date for applications for the EEDF Bursary is 1 November 2025-2026. Ensure that you submit your application before this date, as late submissions will not be accepted.
